Soft Robotics Inc. is a venture-backed technology startup in Bedford, MA that combines patented and industry-proven soft grasping technologies, a proprietary 3D vision system, and artificial intelligence software into robotic picking solutions that can handle items of varying size, shape and weight with high-speed, precision, and a human-like touch. Soft Robotics' products make possible the automation of food production processes that have traditionally depended on manual labor for bin picking, tray packing singulation, and other complex operations.

 

Manufacturing & Assembly Technician

We are looking to bring on a new Manufacturing & Assembly Technician to help support our strong revenue growth as we continue to bring a wide variety of novel robotic automation solutions to market. The role will support the development, commercialization, manufacture, and maintenance of the Company’s novel robotic products. The ideal candidate will have experience in all areas of manufacturing within a product development organization.


Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  1. Participate in the manufacture, service, and repair of complex electromechanical products;
  2. Ensure manufacturing process is compliant with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), policies, and the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS);
  3. Supports all manufacturing and operations activities including but not limited to: Assembly, Fabrication, Testing, Inventory Maintenance; 
  4. Supports Company policies, procedures, goals, objectives, and manufacturing best practices

 

Experience/Skill Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience with a proven track record in supporting Engineering, Research and Development (R&D), and Manufacturing/Operations teams engaged in the development and commercialization of complex pneumatic and electromechanical systems;
  • Ability to execute complex assembly and test procedures and while gathering device data;
  • Proficiency in use of computers along with MS Office products.
  • Strong attention to details and the ability to work independently;
  • Self-Starter with the ability to operate independently within a fast-paced organization;
  • Positive attitude; Always assumes positive intent;
  • Excellent communications skills- both verbal and written;
  • Demonstrated track record of integrating with high-performing teams, operating with best-practice processes and procedures, and laterally operating with other functions to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality product in response to exponentially growing sales demand.
  • Financially and operationally conscientious- someone who treats the Company as if it’s their own;
  • A 2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience in a related field (preferred);
  • 5 years of relevant work experience with a proven track record in supporting Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing/Operations teams engaged in the development and commercialization of complex pneumatic and electromechanical systems (preferred);
  • Inventory Control System experience; Oracle’s NetSuite a plus;
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience (preferred):
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100C standards (preferred);
  • Proven problem solving and decision-making skills, to include use of disciplined problem-solving methodologies and tools (Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, Poke-yoke, etc.) (preferred);

 

Education Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical/trade school preferred
