To be a leader in a growing industry, you have to build the best team.  We are growing the Sales Team, and looking for a Sales Engineer to join Soft Robotics as we develop intelligent, Soft Gripping solutions with an emphasis on automating the food industry. The Sales Engineer is a multifaceted role centered on proactively interfacing with existing and prospective customers to generate new business opportunities.  Additionally, this role will be a support to the Regional Sales Director from both a sales and technical standpoint.  Leveraging their technical background, the Sales Engineer will explain the benefits of Soft Robotics unique soft gripping and AI solutions to current and potential customers to build and increase a pipeline and aggressively close new business.  Candidates must reside in the Midwest Region, which includes the following states: WI, MN, ND, SD, IA, KS, NE, MO, IL.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Generate business in existing accounts and targets, and identify new opportunities to capture new business
  • Deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to existing and prospective customers
  • Talk with customers to determine their primary challenges, assess equipment needs and determine system requirements
  • Partner with sales and applications engineering teams to determine customer requirements
  • Manage opportunities and increase sales pipeline in territory
  • Ensure data consistency and data entry in Salesforce
  • Identify high-potential customers
  • Establish and build meaningful relationships with customers to encourage trust and loyalty
  • Work closely with Sales team to bridge the identified needs and opportunities


  • BS in Technical Engineering field
  • Minimum 3 years’ sales experience in the Industrial Automation industry
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, and sales skills
  • Presentation skills and ability to convey product and company value
  • High level organizational skills for maintaining sales territory
  • Experience with CRM (Salesforce)
  • Ability to travel throughout territory
  • Experience in the food and beverage industry, preferred
