We are looking to hire a Senior Embedded Engineer to participate in R&D and Product Development activities.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing firmware and software for robotic systems. He/she will be a high-powered individual contributor that works on a variety of customer-focused projects throughout the product development life cycle, from initial proofs of concept through robust production-ready implementations. The successful candidate must also be eager to participate in all areas of technical development and to work with the other disciplines to support robotic system development in a fast-paced, startup environment.
Perform firmware/software architecture design and development;
Design for safety, availability, manufacturability and test;
Implement and improve software development best-practice processes to maximize engineering throughput and product quality;
Support manufacturing and test;
Participate in risk management and design control activities;
Perform Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA);
Participate in design reviews and document development activities per established product development process;
Work with Engineering Leadership to ensure that embedded implementations align with the overall technology architecture and strategic technical direction;
Mentor junior engineers and interns/coops;
Other duties as required.
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent;
5+ years of professional firmware/software development experience, or 3+ years of professional experience with 2+ years of advanced academic training beyond a BS
Proficiency with Agile methods and with "best practices" such as issue tracking, static code checking, and automated testing;
Experience with robotics, highly integrated products, or high-reliability systems;
Experience developing firmware applications and peripheral drivers on various 8, 16 and 32-bit microcontroller, specifically ARM core processors;
Demonstrated expertise writing C/C++ on in a real-time environment both with and without an RTOS;
Demonstrated project/program management skills;
Strong mathematical and analytical skills;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Proficiency in the creation and maintenance of documentation;
Demonstrated track record of exceptional individual performance in a fast-paced environment;
Exceptionally detail oriented.
7+ years of experience in product development organizations ideally working under a certified quality system;
5+ years of robotics experience
Experience with digital and analog electrical circuit design;
Experience with establishing and managing development processes to ensure high quality outcomes and compliance with all relevant regulations;
Versatility in other disciplines (Mechanical and Electrical Engineering) or “Maker” experience is highly desired;
Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements for software development in a commercial/industrial setting;
High-level SW development experience;
Experience coding to MISRA-C or equivalent high-reliability coding standards.
