What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance & Administration, the Human Resources Manager is a hands-on, sole practitioner role that provides full life cycle HR support.  The role is critical in executing our people initiatives, providing great internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.  Responsible for managing Recruitment, Benefits, Compensation, Performance Management, Employee Engagement & Communication, Compliance, Employee Relations & Retention, Health & Safety, and General HR Administration.  Responsibilities include:

  1. Partner with leadership to determine both short-term and long-term HR needs and develops/executes programs to meet these requirements;
  2. Implement employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs; recommending benefit programs in conjunction with the Benefits Broker; obtains and evaluates benefit contract bids; and designs, reconciles invoices, maintains provider databases, and conducts educational programs on benefit programs;
  3. Manage all leave programs including administration, notices, and filings;
  4. Work closely with Managers to pro-actively identify and resolve moderate to complex Employee Relations issues by isolating problems, determining root cause and effect relationships, identify appropriate solutions and driving implementation. Provides leadership in the development and maintenance of a positive Employee Relations environment;
  5. Manage all Employment/Recruiting activities by coordinates recruiting efforts and interviews candidates;
  6. Manage all onboarding and offboarding activities to ensure a positive employee experience;
  7. Assist with processing payroll with 3rd party (ADP Workforce Now);
  8. Implement Compensation Program.  Responsibility includes job descriptions, analysis recommendations, annual performance appraisal/merit increase programs and equity increase program. May participate in or leads special compensation studies;
  9. Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records, monitoring unemployment, and representing the organization at hearings;
  10. Coordinate Health & Safety Programs (including COVID-19 Plans);
  11. Keep current on best industry practices impacting the field of Human Resource Management. Cultivates professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies;
  12. Maintain the filing and retrieval systems;
  13. May handle special projects and other duties as needed.

Who You’ll Be

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience required;
  • 5-7 years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles with previous leadership required. The following are desired but not required (a) Small company (less than 75) (b) Start-up company (c) Technology or Manufacturing industry;
  • Broad knowledge of Employment, Compensation, Benefits, Employee Relations, State and Federal Compliance (COBRA, HIPAA, PFMLA, ADA and other tax considerations for fringe benefits) and Heath & Safety required. International experience a plus;
  • The ability to be comfortable with variants in workload and not be afraid to "roll up your sleeves";
  • Stellar internal and external customer service focus;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously - orientated on results;
  • Previous experience with HR technology systems including ADP Workforce Now (required), Bamboo HR and provider portals;
  • Must have excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills;
